Google Search Console

A new Google Search Console was recently launched by Google, which is an improvement upon the old version. However, there are a few features that have not been added to the latest console.

Google, says the reason of this is that the company is working on the features and a better method has been developed to present the data, forcing the discontinuation of the exempt features.

The missing features are:

Search traffic

Although the ‘Search Analytics’ tab is part of the new Google Search Console, a handful of features such as ‘Mobile usability’, ‘International targeting’, ‘Manual actions’, ‘Internal links’, and‘Links to your site’ are found missing from the web service.  The features are quite helpful in managing your or your company’s page. For instance, mobile usability section allows you to see the traffic from mobiles. Since, internet usage from mobiles have grown considerably, the traffic will help you adjudge if your page is mobile-friendly or not.

Security issues

All notifications concerning security threats or problems were found here. As internet is highly-unregulated and faces constant cyber security threats, the tab comes quite handy to see your protection and possible threats.

Crawl

The new version of the Google SearchConsole does not have a crawl tab. The tab had sections such as  ‘Crawl errors’, ‘URL parameters’, ‘Fetch asGoogle’, ‘Crawl stats’,  ‘Sitemaps’, and‘Robots.txt tester’. For example, the ‘Fetch as Google’ allowed you to see ifGoogle can access the page properly, the way the page is rendered, and if there are any blocked resources on the page.

Google Index

Although the majority of the ‘Index’ section has been moved to the new Google Search Console, two sections have been omitted: ‘Remove URLs’ and ‘Blocked resources’. These tabs allow you to permanently  deny access to the URLs. The ‘Blocked resources’ section lets you see the pages Google couldn’t access, prompting you to get rid of the blocked elements. The ‘Remove URLs’ tag gives you the power to block URLs from showing up in search results.

Search appearance

‘HTML improvements’, ‘Data highlighter’,‘Rich cards’, and ‘Structured data’ section are missing from the ‘Search appearance’ tab. While the ‘Structured data’ section lists the errors in structured data, the ‘Rich cards’ section lets you see the errors for structured data meant for rich cards. Further, the ‘HTML improvements’ tab comes handy in checking duplicate titles.

These are the few things missing from the new Google Search Console that are rather helpful. However, there is no need to fret as you can always go back to the older version to access these features.
